As an avid cyclist, I understand the cost of cycling and it upsets me when people steal bikes that we toil so hard to obtain. This series is important to me because I want to bring awareness to the sophistication of bike thieves and the small, urban havoc they cause in our day to day. Oddly, as sad as a stolen bike can be, there’s a certain beauty to this gang of forgotten bikes that at some point, provided joy, excitement and affordable transportation to its owner. To see a bike abandoned, and defiled, is to be witness to a lost but treasured memory.
